Asthma Attacks in Children can be Trigger by Thunderstorm


Asthma attacks in childhood are commonly caused by pollen, colds or particles in the air but according to the new report, thunderstorm can also triggers asthma.

The study of Lifescript.com article said that about 3 percent increases in asthma related emergency room visits on days after a thunderstorm. The report makes sense that thunderstorm can churn up the pollen and it mold in the air that results in setting off an allergic reaction to the people who are sensitive to allergens.

“It also was suggested that lightning could be leaving increased levels of nitrogen dioxide and ozone in the air, which also could irritate sensitive lungs. If the child is experiencing the symptoms of wheezing, coughing, tightness of the chest, or has difficulty in breathing, it is highly recommended to seek immediately medical care most especially if the child is known to have asthma.

The occurrence of asthma varies on the type and the person who have it. It is important to take precautionary measures in order not to have difficulty dealing with the symptoms. Further study and research will be done pertaining to the said study.
