National Diabetes Control Programme Commence by Novo Nordisk


The goal of Improve control programme is to change the trend of the management of diabetes treatment through a multi-pronged way which involves healthcare professional training, awareness campaign, and education for patients and training for the medical personnel involved in the diabetes management. It was launched in the eve of the Global Permix Summit held by the diabetes major Novo Nordisk. The program is for a phased manner that involves all the stockholders to assist a program that will help bring the diabetes under control in the six months of diagnosis.

The program plans to calculate the extend of the problem in India by means of evaluating control, management, complications, and the psychological aspects of the people suffering from diabetes in India through DiabCare India 2011 survey and will reach out 10,000 doctors in India.

According to Dr Shashank R Joshi, Endocrinologist, Joshi Clinic, Lilavati & Bhatia Hospital, Mumbai, it is urgent to have a systematic approach in improving the awareness about diabetes and its control among the patients and with medical fraternity. It is also a topical need of the hour in India today.

The expert team will evaluate control, management, complications, and the psychosocial aspects of the people in India with diabetes over the next few months. The team will also include the spreading of message about the glycemic target and the reduction of period of the clinical inertia among physicians and patients with diabetes.
