Ryan Lochte Dominates in the Water with 6 Golds

Ryan Lochte, a former member of the Florida Gators swim team has extended his dominant streak in the water by winning a half dozen gold medals and one silver medal at the recent short-course, world swimming championships.

Lochte, a Daytona Beach, Florida native, does not take his record setting events for granted. He declared that his hard work and determination were the factors responsible for his success in 7 out of 8 races.

The only swimming event in which Lochte did not claim medal status was in the 400m freestyle relay. In this particular race he and his teammates placed 4th overall, but were within mere seconds of winning a bronze medal.

The former Florida Gator swim star even set world record times for both the 200m and 400 m individual medleys. These are now the only time an individual competitor has achieved a new world record since the ban on bodysuits took place this year.

While there were other winning athletes stepping up to take center stage it is Ryan Lochte who became the star of the night with a total haul of 7 medals to his credit.
